How we look after your details

This notice covers our enquiry forms and this website. It says what we ask for, why, and what we do with it.

The short version

  • We use your answers to reply to your enquiry and to put your quote together.
  • We don't sell your details, and we don't pass them on to anyone who'd use them for their own marketing.
  • Only Tide Rise and anyone we hire to help can see your details, and only what they need to do the job.
  • We won't add you to a mailing list without asking you first.
  • We keep your answers only as long as we need them. You can ask us to delete them at any time.

Who we are

Tide Rise Marketing is a digital marketing business based in Margate, Kent. It is run by Christian Jones, who is responsible for your personal information (the "controller" in data protection language).

What we ask for, and why

We use two short forms. The first starts your enquiry. The second helps us shape your quote.

FormWhat you tell usWhat we use it for
Enquiry formYour name, email address, optional WhatsApp or phone number, your business name and where it's based, a website or social link, what your business does, what's taking up your time, and which service interests you.Replying to you and working out how we could help.
Quote formYour name and business name, which service to start with, the platforms and tools you already use, what appeals to you, how soon you'd like to start, how you'd like us to keep in touch, and anything else you add.Preparing your quote and getting in touch about it.

Please don't put passwords, bank details or card numbers in either form. We never need them.

Our legal reason

We use your details because you asked us to get in touch about our services, and we need them to reply and prepare a quote. Data protection law calls this taking steps at your request before entering into a contract. If you're enquiring for a business and not for yourself, our reason is that we have a legitimate interest in replying to business enquiries, and we don't think that overrides your rights.

If we want to send you marketing emails or newsletters, we'll ask for your permission separately, and you can say no.

Who sees your details

  • Tide Rise Marketing.
  • Anyone we hire to help with your work. They only get access to what they need, and they're bound to keep it private.
  • Google. The forms, the answer spreadsheets and our email run on Google's services, so Google stores your answers for us. Google may process data outside the UK, using the safeguards UK law requires.
  • The messaging app you choose. If you ask us to reply on WhatsApp, that conversation runs through WhatsApp.

We don't sell your details. If the law requires us to share them, for example with a regulator, we will.

This website

At the moment this website doesn't use cookies or analytics, and it loads its fonts from its own server rather than from a third party. If that changes, we'll update this page and ask for your permission first where the law requires it.

How long we keep your details

  • If we don't end up working together, we delete your answers within 12 months of your enquiry.
  • If we do work together, we keep them while we work together. We keep invoices and other financial records for as long as tax law requires, which is normally six years.

Your rights

You can ask us, at any time, to:

  • tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy
  • correct anything that's wrong
  • delete your details
  • stop using your details in a particular way, or restrict how we use them
  • move your details to someone else in a usable format

Email us and we'll reply within one month, usually much sooner.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
